No quiero ni pensar en el dinero que me gasté en la mudanza aquí, de verdad que no...pero pensad en el dinero de alguna de las cosas.

Yo tuve muchísima suerte de que una familia del pueblo al que me mudé me ayudó en todo lo posible, y excepto la cama y la tv, todo lo demás del apartamento lo compré o usado o lo encontré en la basura. Si, suena fatal lo de la basura, pero la gente cuando se muda y no ha vendido las cosas las pone al lado de los contenedores y si está en buen estado, ¿por que no? También compré cosas en PTA (asociaciones de padres de alumnos, son tiendas de segunda mano), Habitat for humanity y yard sales (a las que hay que ir temprano y con vehículo grande).
Yo decidí que no quería volver a un apartamento vacío todos los días, cuando viví en Kansas, viví durante todo un año con una cama, una mesa, una silla y una estantería. No tenía nada mas, y no quería volver a un sitio todos los días que no me gustaba. Esa fue mi decisión personal, que no tiene por qué seguir todo el mundo.

I was very lucky to have a local family helping me out and except for the bed and tv, everything else was mostly second hand (or from the dumpster). I know that sounds terrible but when people move out, whatever they are not taking or selling they put it outside of the dumpster for you to take. I also bought stuff on PTA, Habitat for Humanity or yard sales (it is useful if you have a big car or truck available for this).
I decided that I didn't want to live like in Kansas where for a year I only had a bed, a desk, a chair and a shelf. I didn't want to go back to an empty apartment, that was my decision and only mine.
